Welcome to the Lake Elsinore Historical Society Website!
The Society was founded to collect, protect, preserve, display, and
further the preservation of items and documents of historical value and
significance from the Lake Elsinore Valley.
The Lake
Elsinore Historical Society was conceived and organized in 1996. Today,
there is a museum in historic downtown Lake Elsinore. It is located in
the basement of the City of Lake Elsinore's Cultural Center at 183 North
Main Street. The Museum is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 11:00
a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Sundays from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Presently, this
Museum is closed. The State of California has adopted a law that
buildings used by the public and built of unreinforced masonry must be
brought up-to-date and seismic retrofitted in the event of an
earthquake.
In the interim,
a temporary museum is located at 15891 Grand
Avenue, Suite #1, and is referred to as the Grand Avenue Museum. It
will be open the same hours as the downtown museum and as shown
above.
